Welcome to the UW-Madison Teaching Academy
As co-chairs of the UW Teaching Academy, let us welcome you to our web site.
In December of 1993, the Faculty Senate voted to create the UW-Madison Teaching Academy to promote effective education by encouraging innovation, experimentation, and dialogue about teaching and learning.
The Teaching Academy is a membership organization including more than 150 Fellows (faculty and instructional staff) and 120 Future Faculty Partners (FFP, graduate students and post-docs). Our members are individuals who have distinguished themselves as outstanding teachers and who have demonstrated a commitment to improving student learning both in and out of the classroom. Many of our members are contributing their time and energies across campus, in a variety of settings, to increase, recognize, and support the excellence in teaching that characterizes the University of Wisconsin.
Although the Teaching Academy is a membership organization, our meetings are open to all members of the UW community, and we welcome all who are interested in the teaching and learning process to attend. You can get involved by:
- Attending Teaching Academy sponsored series or events:
- Our Fall Discussion Series;
- Our Winter Retreat;
- Our co-sponsored Spring Symposium;
- Our Summer Institute.
- Becoming a member of a Task-force
- Organizing a teaching brownbag within your department
- Nominating yourself or others to become a Fellow or a FFP .
