Origins and Goals: The Teaching Academy is composed of University of Wisconsin faculty members and instructional staff. We provide leadership to strengthen undergraduate, graduate, and outreach teaching and learning at UWMadison. In response to a recommendation by the Committee on Teaching Quality, Evaluation, and Rewards Committee, the Faculty Senate created the Teaching Academy on December 6, 1993, by approving Faculty Document 1041. The goal of the Teaching Academy is to promote effective teaching and learning on this campus and nationally by encouraging innovation, experimentation, and dialogue among faculty, instructional staff, and teachers of the future.
