Graduate Student Conversations
Graduate students of today are
the faculty of tomorrow. As such, it is never too
early to encourage conversations about teaching
among faculty and graduate students, and the
graduate students themselves. Creating
opportunities for graduate students to engage in
conversations about teaching and learning can not
only be a valuable method to improve teaching,
but is also an important component in the process
of establishing a new, more collegial environment
and approach to faculty work on campusses
everywhere.
There is value in both
conversations within a discipline, as well as
being exposed to the breadth of ideas gained by
participating in cross-disciplinary
conversations. Opportunities for you to
participate, or to encourage others to are listed
below. You may choose to refer someone to an
existing program, become a part of existing
program yourself, or create new opportunities for
discussions to take place in your department or
college. You may wish to use one, or a
combination of the following structures to create
a space for discussions about teaching and
learning:
