2017 Fall Kickoff – Oct. 6, 2017

We invite you to join us at the UW–Madison Teaching Academy 2017 Fall KickoffOpen to everyone on campus interested in improving teaching and learning, the event’s theme focuses on Relentless Curiosity from the recently refined language of the Wisconsin Experience. Tied to the Wisconsin Idea, The Wisconsin Experience is UW-Madison’s vision for the total student experience, which combines learning in and out of the classroom.

At the Fall kickoff, we’ll explore ways to build —

  • Active learning with expert instructors, scholars and peers
  • Engagement in creative inquiry, scholarship and research
  • Methods to develop resilience, and foster courage in life and learning

into courses, classrooms, and other learning spaces.

A continental breakfast will be served, followed by an engaging, interactive morning focused on creative approaches to fostering that relentless curiosity in learners. The event begins with an opening keynote and activity, followed by a panel of instructors from across campus sharing how they foster curiosity in their students.

“Fueled by Curiosity, Wandering Across Disciplines”

In this presentation, an intrepid educator and artist tells spine-tingling tales of her journeys into unfamiliar territory…the mysterious worlds of science and business. Using creative methods to navigate uncertainty and explore risk, she charts the course for a more hands-on approach to higher ed.
