The Teaching Academy invites you to our winter retreat, “Beyond Rate My Professors: The Future of Course and Instructor Evaluation”
Date & Location: Thursday, January 21st, 8:30am–12:15 at Varsity Hall in Union South.
At a time of increased accountability universities are under pressure to build effective methods for evaluating courses and instructors. The retreat will tackle these thorny issues and provide an opportunity to discuss a draft white paper on developing a new, supplemental course evaluation system built around the UW Essential Learning Outcomes. You’ll hear opening remarks from Mo Bischof, Associate Vice Provost, who has been actively involved in assessment and course evaluation efforts across campus. After which, David Baum, faculty co-chair of the Teaching Academy Executive Committee, will summarize and discuss the white paper. Then we’ll hear from a panel of experts on the design, implementation, and interpretation of departmental course/instructor evaluations and other evaluations of student learning, before breaking into thematic discussion groups.
See the Winter Retreat page (teachingacademy.wisc.
The retreat is open to the whole UW-Madison community. Breakfast sandwiches, coffee and cake will be provided.
