The Teaching Academy sponsors four major events each year:
Each Fall, after the semester begins, we gather for a morning of conversations on themes in higher education teaching and learning such as grading and providing prompt and effective feedback to students.
The Teaching Academy is excited to announce that it has reinstated Members Only Events starting in 2016. There are generally two per year, in October and April. This event will include light appetizers, a cash bar, and more importantly, provide a space for Fellows and Future Faculty Partners to come together as an entire membership to discuss the mission and direction of the UW-Teaching Academy.
Right before the spring semester starts, the Teaching Academy holds a half day retreat in order to share ideas on teaching and learning topics. Previously we discussed topics such as: effective learning and teaching engagement and feedback on our teaching from colleagues.
We are proud to collaborate with other Teaching & Learning communities on campus and significantly sponsor of the Teaching & Learning Symposium each spring. Held after the spring semester, this day-and-a-half long event draws a large crowd of faculty and instructional staff, who participate in their choices of ~25 specialized sessions by their colleagues, as well as three plenary sessions, and plenty of time for reconnecting with friends.
The Teaching Academy Summer Institute (TASI) offers a four-day experience in faculty development and curriculum innovation in the restful environs of the UW-Madison Arboretum. With the help of a community of support, they redesign courses, or design entirely new ones. It’s a gentle boot camp to attend to curriculum.
