TEACHING & LEARNING SYMPOSIUM SERIES
The symposium will be a series of presentations and discussions throughout the spring semester instead of the traditional one day event. All events are on Thursdays, 11:30 – 1:30. View the full program and schedule.

DELTA SPRING 2021 COURSES – NOW REGISTERING
The Delta Program provides professional development in teaching, mentoring and outreach. Please share our upcoming Spring 2021 course opportunities with postdocs and graduate students who are eager to add evidence-based teaching strategies to their instructor toolkits. All courses will be held remotely.

Active Teaching Labs are participant-driven explorations on a different theme each week with an Activity Sheet of resources to meet a variety of your needs. Lab Chats are personalized deeper dives into the week’s themes that aim to contextualize Lab themes to particular teaching environments — also great for folx who can’t attend Wednesday Labs!
Schedule: Held virtually in Microsoft Teams on Wednesdays (Labs) and Thursdays (Chats) from 1-2pm during the semester.

MEMBER CONTRIBUTION | INTRODUCING THE COURSE SUCCESS SELF-REVIEW
The Course Success Self-Review (CSSR) is a unique, new tool for campus. The CSSR is an anonymous and quick survey to help instructors strengthen the design and delivery of remote and hybrid courses, leading to better learning and student satisfaction. The Self-Review identifies six success factors with supporting recommendations. Take the Self-Review (30-60 minutes) to be directed to relevant and actionable resources on the supporting website. After completing the self-review, you can browse all the resources on the Course Success website: https://coursesuccess.wisc.edu
The CSSR was developed in late-2020 by Academy Fellows Karen Skibba (DCS, LDDI) and Dan Pell (DoIT AT), with contributions and support from a broad team of teaching & learning superstars from multiple units on campus.
The CSSR is continuously evolving. Comments, questions, and suggestions from members of the Academy are warmly and enthusiastically welcomed!

WINTER RETREAT 2021 RECAP | SUPPORTING STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH
The Teaching Academy 2021 Winter Retreat was held on Friday, February 5.
The retreat included a panel of expert practitioners (Sarah Nolan, Director of Mental Health Services at UHS, Val Donovan, Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Specialist at UHS, Claire Barrett, Healthy Academics Specialist at UHS, and Wren Singer, Associate Vice Provost and Director of Undergraduate Advising and Career Services). Undergraduate students recorded short videos to share their own experiences of what supported them during this past year of remote instruction. Additional responses to questions addressed to the panel will be shared in the March newsletter.

FYI | TASK FORCE ON POST-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMING
The UW Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (UW CIPE) is developing a task force to plan and deliver a program on interprofessional practice and education (IPE) professional development during the early summer.
They are seeking TWO Fellows with interest and expertise in IPE to join the task force. This task force will be a short-term commitment and will include people across campus.
Teaching Academy Fellows who are interested in post-professional programming should connect with Dr. Hossein Khalili (hkhalili@wisc.edu) by March 5, 2021.
