Welcome to our September newsletter! As you feel the first fallen leaves crunching underfoot, we hope you find time to read and enjoy this month’s newsletter, which includes updates and multiple ways of staying connected with the Teaching Academy.

This month, registration is open for the Teaching Academy’s Fall Retreat, this year on the topic of creating a supportive environment (and supporting a creative environment) for Neurodivergent students, staff, instructors – everybody!  We celebrate two new members of the Academy, and invite you to submit more nominations through our newly refurbished membership form. We offer a fall cornucopia of learning and community building events from U-CLaSS, WISCIENCE, the Delta Program, the Language Institute, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring, and our own Clinical Corner. And … celebrate Latine/Hispanic Heritage Month on our campus and in our community! Questions or comments about the newsletter? Delta Program | Seeking Observation Opportunities for Graduate Students

Support Graduate Students by Letting them Observe Your Teaching. The Delta Program in the Graduate School is offering a new course this fall as part of the newly-launched Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning intended for graduate students interested in faculty careers. In this course, graduate students will take an experiential learning approach to explore the diversity of teaching in higher education, from course design to interacting with students. An important part of the course includes class observations across various course levels and disciplinary areas.

  • Would you be willing to have a graduate student observe a class meeting of your course? If so, please fill out this short form.

Thank you! We appreciate your consideration to allow graduate students to observe how teaching and learning happens in your course context, as this is a valuable part of their preparation as future faculty. Questions about this course? Contact Jessica Maher jessica.maher@wisc.edu
