Welcome to our October newsletter! As shadows stretch and evening light turns to gold, we hope you find time to read and enjoy this month’s newsletter, which includes updates and multiple ways of staying connected with the Teaching Academy.
This month we highlight upcoming events within the Academy and by our partners. Join a conversation with Posse Program students to learn about their experiences at UW-Madison first hand. Reserve your space in the Discussion Project with online and face-to-face options this winter. Open the doors of your own class to support the professional learning of grad student-observers from the Delta program. Explore the growing range of events and workshops from the Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring. And…many thanks to the 200+ people who attended the Teaching Academy’s Retreat on Supporting Neurodivergence on Our Campus. An edited video and materials from the Retreat will be shared in the November newsletter.

Delta Program | Support Graduate Students by Letting them Observe Your Teaching
The Delta Program in the Graduate School is offering a new course this fall as part of the newly-launched Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning intended for graduate students interested in faculty careers. In this course, graduate students will take an experiential learning approach to explore the diversity of teaching in higher education, from course design to interacting with students. An important part of the course includes class observations across various course levels and disciplinary areas.
- Would you be willing to have a graduate student observe a class meeting of your course? If so, please fill out this short form.
Thank you! We appreciate your consideration to allow graduate students to observe how teaching and learning happens in your course context, as this is a valuable part of their preparation as future faculty.
